The roman shades at left are actually hung below a metal rod via black leather tabs. Still functional!

Above-left photos are of traditional roman shades with valances. The valance allows the cords to pull through the shades from the back to the front side of the shades. The valance hides the eyelet at top necessary in the shade for this to happen.

This makes this style of roman shade much easier to open and close, much better functionality!

Roman shade above-top has three romans on one board and a shaped valance. The lower photo is of hobbled roman shades w/valance.

The roman shade above-left have grommets for a nautical style. The cords are then exposed for 2"as they pass from one grommet to the next. A new fun look or style is sometimes about creativity and imagination! The cords were pulled over the door handles for more interest.

The lightweight linen roman shade above is truly custom!

A client had me create or reproduce this image from her Waterford crystal onto lightweight linen roman shades. Previous to her requesting me to create these for her - three other sewing shops had declined her creative design. Sometimes a challenge is a good thing!

This was all hand work. All hand stitched - applique. Very time consuming and tedious, but they turned out just lovely! I made four of these roman shades, one tiny stitch at a time!
